A new word for the social studies community and beyond...

"Graphicity"

Greetings SS PLN.  I need your help.  The above word, graphicity, was created by myself and a student to describe the "scale of the graphic nature of images, video, and media." It is a noun.  For example, if one were reading the newspaper of a bombing of a train in Madrid, and the article featured a picture of the aftermath, it could be rated on the graphicity scale, "the graphicity of that picture is a 5 (a 1-10 scale with 10 being extremely graphic).

It's a great word for our content area.  Please start using the word, a lot, with your students and colleagues.  It is my goal that the word is eventually accepted into the dictionary and becomes commonly used in all settings.

Thanks, and happy new year!
