I teach 8th grade and I am looking for a fun new way to compare and contrast the three regions of colonies. I have done fliers or advertisements for individual colonies but I was thinking I would like to do something with all three regions. What do you do?

I would love to see your assignment - I was talking to the theater teaching today about having the kids act out skits, and this sounds exactly about what we were brainstorming about...or at least could be an extension of your assignment.  If you could post it, I'd be extremely grateful.

Hi Leticia,

I am just checking - was this post a response to my Colonial Village project?

Hi Brian - I was asking Christina but I like your poster idea too - I may try it next year if you'd still be willing to share.  I'm always looking for new ways to teach the same thing.  I might use yours in a tutoring session too - it'll be on a smaller scale but effective nonetheless. I appreciate your sharing.
Here'smy assignment if it's what you were looking for Leticia.  I also have the rubric there.  I hope you can use it!
Thanks Christina

Kristi,

I have the students recreate a colonial village or plantation depending on what region they select. They research what life was like in these three regions (library and internet) and using real basic materials they produce a model. We use a foam board for a base. It's a two week project for me. So, I am not sure if you want something of this length but the kids loved it.
