Hi everyone -  My school will be switching from a 2 year to a 1 year APUSH course, and I'm in need of some advice from those of you who have always done the 1 year course.  If you have a syllabus, website, or anything else that you can send me that gives me an idea of your pacing/what you emphasize/instructional strategies for teaching the 1 year course I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Hi Melissa,

Here's our syllabus!  Hope this helps!

We have students read 15-25 pages a night, complete identifications of terms from the textbook, and then in class do a combination of lecture and short video clips.  We also use a collection of articles to help give students a better background.

Thanks so much, Christina!  Do you do any activities or projects that you find really help the kids?

Welcome!

We do a nationalism project with the Jackson Unit that is helpful to pull everything together, and I think the essay writing practice is helpful too.  We start with building a strong thesis, then essays, then DBQs in the second semester (January).

I can email you some more documents if you want!
