My home state of Oregon has moved forward with Common Core in Social Studies and I have spent most of this past school year 2011/12 unwrapping standards and writing rubrics and assessments. When I'm done I will share all that I can here.
Comment by Michael Milton on April 3, 2012 at 7:18pm My history department have been looking at the common core and fitting in lessons and activities to meet the standards. It seems more skill driven rather than content driven. I enjoy the reading/writing standards.
Comment by Salena Cathcart on November 9, 2011 at 2:11pm Our school has a reading/writing across the curriculum focus, so our administration believes we are already on track toward accomplishing the goals of common core. Personally, I would like to see much of the speaking element addressed through a related arts course in forensics.

Our department skills progression chart is tied to the common core...but it really doesn't look much different from what we were already doing.
