I will be teaching a required 12th government class for the first time next year, I am just beginning to compile resources and lesson plan ideas / building curriculum. Anyone have suggestions? Good websites?  What about textbooks, or other good books? Thanks to the awesome #sschat crew!

Lauren,

Be sure to check C-SPAN Classroom (http://www.c-spanclassroom.org/).  It's a great resource with a lot of lesson plan ideas, free giveaways (be sure to get the American Presidents Timeline poster), and other helpful information.  It's also free.

Lauren,

Be sure to check out the National ArchivesCybraryman's Govt. Page and Primary Sources in U.S.Government. There are a lot more out there but these will help.

I'm in a similar position. Here's what I found so far:

This is perfect. I am in the same boat! Do any of you use diigo? I'm going to try to build a group just for government resources. Thanks.

Hi Lauren,

You should check out youthleadership.net  - it has tons of lesson plans and is associated with the University of Virginia.  Also if you are interested in discussing court cases www.streetlaw.org is a good site.
