I think this is great because students need to know what is expected and this really eliminates some of the mystery surrounding what their teacher expects from their notebook. I also think parents will appreciate this as well.
One suggestion, and it may be something that you were planning on doing anyway, is to keep a master notebook. This helps students see a good model for what they complete in the notebook. The other benefit of a master ISN is that it serves as a great professional reflection tool. You can always look back and make notes as you prep for the next school year.
