Jen Medwid replied to Valerie Wald's discussion Teaching to the NY Global History Regents Exam in the group World History Educators
"I would love to see some type of NYS global history unit-based reader that we could work on collaboratively.  Trying to get one going at the school level, but it'd be neat if we could all suggest some inquiry questions and specific…"

Jen Medwid replied to Kimberly Johnson's discussion AP Euro 1815 - 1848ish in the group AP Educators
"Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I'm finishing a masters and had to get that out of the way first.    Each time I get to this unit it overwhelms me.  Textbooks handle it differently, and it just seems to be a…"

Jen Medwid replied to Kimberly Johnson's discussion AP Euro 1815 - 1848ish in the group AP Educators
"I have the same issue.  Too much to do in that particular unit and have always wanted to break it down a little better.  My students get really lost in what is going on in France at that time.  I've only been teaching the course…"

Jen Medwid replied to Ann Wright's discussion Web 2.0 Tools in the group AP Educators
"I am also making the switch to edmodo, as I feel it combines the blog and the wiki that I was using before.  @lisa, do you think that edmodo could also replace Todaysmeet for your classes?  I tried it last year but had a tech fail, as it…"

Lesson Study Project

We can collaborate together to build a lesson together, teach the same lesson in our classes, observe (with tech) the lesson being taught, and critique the lesson in order to make it better.  This is the basis for lesson study.

"@leticia - biggest struggle my 10th graders have is adjusting to higher level texts.  The more they read and the more you scaffold and teach literacy skills for understanding historical texts, the better off they will be. Thesis statements…"

Jen Medwid replied to Jamie Josephson's discussion Textbook Reading in AP History/Gov courses in the group AP Educators
"Just got to reading your post, I have similar issues (but not to such a drastic extent) in my AP Euro class.  It's the first AP class they can take in high school, so my numbers start high and usually end up right about where they should…"

"Great idea to form a group!  I'm jumping on the Edmodo wagon this year with my students.  Moving away from my blog, hoping to use the program as a hub for information, assignments, and sharing/embedding finished products from our…"

Jen Medwid replied to Brian Thomas's discussion Summer Reading for Students
"Somewhat off topic, but do you all know of any comprehensive high school/middle school level historical fiction list?  I would love to just through out a group of suggestions grouped by topic.  I'm sure I could google it but would…"

Jen Medwid replied to Mary Lou Buell's discussion What is World History? in the group World History Educators
"I am glad that I asked.  Always good to hear that the problems are universal and not isolated to my department.  I think a lot of my point of view on this exam is that the January regents was a random mix of questions as well - some even…"

Jen Medwid replied to Mary Lou Buell's discussion What is World History? in the group World History Educators
"What did you think of this past Regents exam?    Increasingly focused on 10th grade material in my opinion.  Interesting trends over the past few times the test has been administered, but it was fair...    I've always…"

Jen Medwid replied to Mary Lou Buell's discussion What is World History? in the group World History Educators
"I teach in NYS too.  For some reason in our district, our 9th grade curriculum only goes through the age of exploration.  I wish they could do through Absolutism to give the 10th grade teachers some additional time.  We do teach the…"
